How to Decorate your Home Office and Promote Creativity

Having a home office has many advantages: you get to work in your pj’s, start later than usual if you have to, drink home-made coffee, have your dog around…the list goes on and on. While there are a lot of positive aspects, having your office under the same roof as your bed can become very overwhelming, very fast.

The ideal scenario here would be to have a big house, with space for a big office, but, that’s not often the real case. You have to struggle sometimes with finding the right environment for your desk and make wonders with what you have available.

How to Decorate your Home Office and Promote Creativity

Having a cute office is not just about looks, but also functionality and productivity. If everything is well-organized, then you work faster. If you have a nice space, then you feel more inspired. Then, an organized space = an organized mind.

Even if you don’t work all the time from home, your blogging space should also inspire you to keep creating content for your readers.

I’ve spent countless of hours looking at beautifully decorated office spaces on Pinterest and there are a few tips that I’ve picked up along the way and applied to my own working area.

You may be thinking that it’s not that important to invest time in this, but trust me, it makes a huge difference. You don’t even need to have a huge budget or a big room. It’s all about the details.

Want to learn how to decorate your home office and promote creativity? Here’s how you can get started.

Give me stationery

The whole purpose of stationery is not only about being functional but also enhancing your workspace. Having a cute planner, notepad, pens or even colorful post-its can create that inspiring environment you need.

My favorites are this planner and pens, this Kate Spade journal and these fine point color pens.

The right chair

If you spend most of your time sitting down on your desk (like me), then you need the right chair. This is more than just being comfortable, but having the right support to avoid back pain in the future.

Choose the right chair and bring it to life with a nice pillow that you can use for your back, but also look good with all the rest of your decor.

Colorful books

I’ll admit it: I do judge a book by its cover. There’s something about colorful books that just makes me want to buy them. There are a lot of options to choose from and, while it should also focus on a topic that you are interested in, using some books as decor is a great idea.

Add flowers

If there’s something that can completely change the way your home office looks, are flowers. The moment you look at them, you feel happy.

Have flowers around as much as you can. Even if you are not so great at taking care of them or don’t have the time to go get them, you can buy artificial ones that look as real as possible.

Inspiration prints

Quotes are always a great way to get your creativity going and small prints are a great way to have them around.

You can frame them and have them on your desk or even create a real inspiration board with your favorite illustrations and renovate it when you feel like it.

Use boxes to organize

Having papers all over your desk is the best way to get stressed out. When it comes to your workspace, you need to have an organization system ready.

You can purchase cute boxes to get everything in place. They will help you find what you need at all times and also look nice.
